I have been incredibly busy the last week or so, so Nugget's few days to settle in, turned into longer than intended. Last night I decided to try to get him out for some taming. Lol. Gave up. He is so fast. I tried tempting him into a cup and then a tube, both with food but he wasn't having it. I was going to scoop him up in the cup but he was too fast. So just put some food on my hand to see if he would take it and he wasn't having that either. Lots of peekaboo last night!

Nugget must seem super fast after being used to syrians! Can just imagine the peek a boo fun
I'm sure he'll gradually get used to you be less inclined to run away, maybe if you just try keeping your hand still in the cage for a while with some treats he might find that a bit less scary then the cup or tube to begin with.
I'm sure it won't hurt having an extra long settling in time.

Thanks Cypher - that's reassuring. He is nesting under the cork log sort of burrowed down under it.

I was surprised about their speed. Even compared to a Russian dwarf, who is quite fast.

I haven’t had any success in hand feeding my robo either. I have had limited success with hand taming my robo. I have put my hand next to the wheel while he runs so he can smell my hand. He has gone over my hand to get off and on to the wheel. This is in his cage and in the playpen.

I have also let him climb into a ball and then let him climb out onto my hand. I sit on my bed so he has a soft landing if he jumps or falls.

A taming box (empty or with wheel/toys) may work or even taming in his tank.

Hopefully you will find a way that works for you both.

Thanks CMB. He was teasing me tonight lol. He'll sit and look at me, out of reach but won't take anything from my hand. I think if I was going to get him in a taming box I'd have to dismantle the cage contents! I'll take it slowly for now, he might get more used to my hand with food on each night.

He sounds so speedy fast. He sure is a cutie!!! It may just take a little extra time for him to gain his confidence and become comfortable with your hand. I'll keep hoping that you both enjoy playtime together soon.

I found Nuggety Nugget running in his wheel just as I was about to go to bed. Running then sliding up and then flipped out He stopped and had a chat and then did some more running, went right round the inside of the wheel again and flipped out again. He seemed fine. It's a bit dark.

Aww, he's so funny and fast, determined to go even faster and you telling him to be careful. Love this little one.
