Help with taming
Sooooo I have my robo hamster (my 1st hamster) for about a 2 months, he is really slow when it comes taming. So I'm still on a step when I put his fav seed between my fingers and he is still really insecure and that is fine buuutt there is this one thing - when he wakes up during the day to get his food, water, bath or whatever and I put my hand with a seed or some kind of food he likes he is insecure but more like really careful but he take food from me when he smells me and he is more chill. But when he is awake during night and I approach him the same way he runs to other side of the cage and stays there (sometime i try and keep my hand there for like 5mins) he won't come near or even come and smell me event tho I have his fav seed or dryed banan that hi reallyyyy likes. I would like for him to not ignore me during night because I know that is his natural awake time.

Re: Help with taming
Well, robos have a reputation for being difficult to tame, but as I've never had one I can't really comment on that. I know people here have robos who are super friendly so sticking with it does work.
All I can tell you is be patient and don't rush things, keep doing what you're doing and go at his pace.
Maybe you could try taking him out of the cage at night, set up a play pen (storage bin is great) that he can't escape from with some familiarity in it like a few toys from his cage, and see how he reacts there. Keep doing the treat trick until he's confident in taking it from you.
Also, have you tried the tissue trick? Wearing a bit of tissue on your person for a good few hours then putting it in his cage so he gets used to your smell? That seems to move taming along.
There's sub forums here that have good taming tips. Good luck!

Re: Help with taming
I've found my hams (Russian & Chinese) are often more interested in doing their own thing later in the evening & aren't particularly bothered about treats but can't get enough in the morning & it sounds as though your robo may be similar, I would just work on interacting & taming when he's most in the mood & as he gets tamer he will become less skittish during the evening too.
