Adopt-a-versary?
Hello Everyone,
Today I got a lovely trio of Roborovski hamsters and realised that 1. Their wheel was of a noisy type and I should buy a better one and 2. They couldn't climb up the tubes so I would have to replace them with ladder. I also read about hamster birthday parties and thought that since I am planning in topping up in pet supplies, maybe I could have one of the next weekends (probably Oct 30) as their adopt a versary? I would buy them some treats too and have a nice, calm day with yummy salads and playtime.
Has anyone did anything similar? Do hamsters enjoy this?
I want it to be special for my robots

Re: Adopt-a-versary?
I think your hamsters will still be settling in as they are very new so you will probably want to hold of anything different for their routine so soon. Especially as you have a tricky trio to settle in and you don't want anything that could spark off fighting. I think having a "party" for them could be stressful as it would be more playtime and different foods, things which are things which should all be introduced gradually.
I believe with multiple hams that you should have multiple wheels to stop one having dominance over a wheel so that's something you might want to think about. and I don't think ladders are always very safe as they can catch their legs. The problem with climbing tubes is the angle is often too steep. Before buying them anything, have a little browse in the thread boards about things for keeping multiple hams and keep some money spare in case you need to separate them and get spare cages.
Spending money on our hams is always fun but make sure you spend it on the right things.

Re: Adopt-a-versary?
Did you do alot of research before adopting your robos or was it more of a fun, let's try this out kind of idea? Hope everything works out well throughout their lives but they can have fall-out & injury & even kill one another. Definitely take precaution & take what velma was saying seriously, 3 separate set-up cages, as fights can occur at anytime even if they have lived peacefully for long periods of time.
You should avoid ladders & levels as they can trigger territorial instincts
