Smile Are Robos Allergenic?

I've done my research online and I seem to be coming up with some conflicting evidence online. Can anyone comment on whether or not Robos are Allergenic?

My wife and I are mildly allergic to cats and dogs; nothing major, just itchy eyes, so we have a very good habit of washing our hands after playing with the little hams. We're just curious if anyone has any more concrete information.

I doubt you'll find a definitive answer to that anywhere tbh, allergies are such unpredictable things & probably not entirely understood.
I think any pet can cause allergies, unlike cats & dogs hamsters obviously aren't wandering around the house all the time scratching & shaking themselves spreading dander & hair everywhere so you may be ok, or find that you only react when cleaning the cage.
I don't think robos are any different from other hams in terms of allergies, I can't see any reason why they would be & hamsters in general can cause allergies.
Do you have a pet shop or breeder where you could go to handle some a few times? I think that's about the only way you're going to know if you'll react or not.
Good luck!

I also found a lot of articles saying people with Asthma don't do well with Robo's

I'm allergic to basically everything living outside, trees, plants spores, pollen. I also am badly allergic to Cats. I don't know about dogs I had a poodle when I was younger that was OK.

I have asthma too.

I started off with a hybrid dwarf hamster brought from a pet shop was not allergic to her at all. Then I had two pure Winter White dwarf hams & was not allergic to them either. I had a pure Campbell & was not allergic to her either.

This year I have a robo & I am not allergic to her either.

I think with the dwarf hams having greasy skin/ fur it keeps the dander down.

That's just me, your allergies might be different to mine, so the best thing to do would be to ask where ever you get the ham from if you can bring the ham back if you find yourself allergic to it, & I would normally say handle the ham but with Robo's that's not so easy sometimes due to there speed

One other thing that you might think about with allergies is also the substrate you might use. My husband has allergies to cats, but my hamsters don't bother him at all however, certain substrates are SO dusty that it will throw his allergies into a frenzy. There are some hypoallegenic substrates that are sold.
