I think he cuts rather a dash with it. It gives him a certain rakish quality, I like to think

Re: Hector
So, today Hector & I came to an understanding. We had our first out of the cage taming session.
Yesterday, I got a smallish plastic bin, cleaned it all out & prepared it like I've seen on Youtube videos & Hector decided that he absolutely was definitely not coming out from his nest which is under the shelf in his cage. "No Ta, not for me, I'm in bed".
So I tried again today at a time of day when he's previously been out for a mooch. Success! A bit of cajoling to get him in his glass jar to transfer him over. A bit of dashing around & then bingo, he came & took a sunflower seed from my hand. And then he did it again. And sat still long enough for me to take a picture! He also decided that walking across my hand even when there was nothing in it was acceptable in a "I can't really be bothered to go around that. I'll just go over it & be done". He tried my fingernails a couple of times but no actual biting & a teeny twitch was enough to let him know not to keep trying.
He even had a bit of a sniff up my wrist & let me lift him up while he was shelling a seed. I only lifted him a few inches in case he panicked & fell off.
He's so soft! I can't tell you how happy it made me to have him on hand.

Yes. Well done. I think I have gone two steps back with my Robo. He ame to me the other day when I called him so I could see how his nose is healing, but today, he would not move at all. He went to the corner of his cage and stayed there. lol. I dropped a treat in his cage for him and he still would not come out.

I think they have a bit of a cat mentality. They'll do it if they feel like it but otherwise, no Ta. Sometimes, as soon as I've gone in to the room Hector is straight out with a "where's my sunflower seed" look. Other times, nope! It ain't happening! He just buries himself in deeper
I'm glad your robo's nose is healing up now.

You'd think the way I go on that no one had ever owned a hamster before "Look he ate a seed! Look he ran in a wheel!" All highly cutting edge hamster information
But I've bored all my non hamster owner friends with it now! At least I know you guys get it

Nope, Velma, I don't understand that at all.
I love his little pierced ear - it's so 'Don't mess with me, I've seen things.'
I'm glad his taming is going well, I'm enjoying the pictures.

I think they just like to keep us on our toes Ian, just when we think we're getting there they go "Ha, fooled you" & do a silent hamster giggle

Re: Hector
If I tell my boyfriend too many Hector tales his response is "this one time, at band camp".
