I have seen the research of life spans on line. Some say that captive ones, if looked after well, can live around 2.5 - 3 years. In the wild, they only live about 2 years. Some say it depends what they eat and how healthy and active they are. Someone on here might say how old their hamster lived to. 2 or 3 years do not seem long, but in their size and to them, it is a life span. A house fly only lives for about 2 weeks, so no good as a pet

It varies, I tend to assume about 2 years(ish) but it varies a lot for the individual hamster - e.g we think our robo Whizz made it past three

My current male robo will be three years old tomorrow and his age was given as just past two years of age when I rehomed him from his previous home, so robos can be longer lived than Syrians and Russian dwarfs. I find they are quite hardy little creatures and like their `hands off` characters. Anyone taking on a roborovski needn't be looking for a pick me up and cuddle me hamster unless it`s already tame or willing to be handled. x
