Rescued Alfie! <3

Hi all!

Thought I'd update with some pics of Alfie's home. She's in a Savic Rody Rabbit (gumtree bargain - £10!)



She LOVES the sandpit so my sister has given her two! She has a shoebox lid filled with sand and an old food dish I had lying about. She's made a wee nest under the shoebox D'awww.

She also has her wheel (couldn't get it all in pic, poking out the side!), a couple of hidey bridges, her wee millet spray and some chews.


This is her coming out to say hello to me! Her wee house is a front, she burrows away down into the substrate to sleep haha! She also has a wee hidey hay log here.

The pictures don't so it justice at all. She's so happy in here and looks like a tiny wee thing whizzing about. She let me stroke her back when she was sitting on my hand today so she's getting brave, especially as she doesn't know me too well. I always love visiting her oh, and my sister too

I know it's lovely to see!! My sis hasn't quite finished with adding things. She's planning on some more sub-substrate tunnels and a flying saucer, but she's almost there and it looks great

I can still see her helpless wee face in that tank, all alone and sad looking with a greasy coat, trying to sleep against the glass with no substrate to bury herself in, and nothing to hide in, jumping awake every time someone bashed the tank. Seeing her now pop out her nest inches below the surface to say hello literally chokes me up :')

Just a little Alfie update!

she's had a cage overhaul with lots of new toys added in:




And here she is sitting on my hand and having a little pat from my sister.



That's her little bum disappearing into her lief house. She's had enough



My sister text me today to tell me that, for the first time, she was able to pick her up. She just let her sit on her hand, then slowly lifted. Usually she runs off, but today she sat there, had a wee sniff, walked from hand to hand a couple of times then let my sister gently lower her back down. Very proud of her!!

Really nice set up in the cage!!! It looks so comfortable, any hamster would love that space, I bet Alfie is really happy. She has a beautiful fur!

Awww she is adorable, and looks very happy sitting there for some fuss. I bet she's really happy with all her new toys

Thanks guys she really does love it she can now be held but only whilst in her cage and only about an inch or two up. Baby steps but it's very promising. When she's having a play in her ball she now also actively runs towards you when you say her name. It's adorable!!

She really has came on well Claire and your sister is doing a fabulous job with her. Really lovely to see how happy she looks in her palace of a cage! x

Thought id update on little Alfie!

She's now little round ball Alfie! She's chubbed out haha she eats very healthily, and gets out of cage time every day, and is now very confident. When she sees a hand she runs towards it, lie it flat and she assumes it's a new chair for her, and if you lift it up she let's you hold her and maybe walk her in your hands a few times before hopping off.

She does go in a huff if she thinks you've taken liberties though, haha! She turns her back if you lift her that little bit too quickly. She's such a wee madam, but gorgeous.

My sister loves her to bits and, at 22 years old, has finally realised what rewarding little characters hamsters are. She's now started down the slippery slope of 'ooooh I could definitely fit a zoozone on that shelf' haha!

But for now, Alfie is an only hamster, and a very loved, spoiled on at that! Here she is: picture of health in her little ball form
