Rescued Alfie! <3
Hi all!
I posted about a little rescue roborivski I got two weeks ago ( Rescued Roborovski...I've fallen in love!)
I thought id give her her very own thread here (we've ascertained she is in fact a she!) Although she's now with my sister (who's doing AMAZINGLY ), she still had a very special place in my heart.
So, two weeks on, she now loves sitting having a mealworm on your hand, followed by a wee groom. It's gorgeous to see how much she trusts my sister. The slightest unusual noise, she runs and sits on my sisters hand. She trusts her completely. She still can't be picked up, but I don't think it'll be too long.
She now lives in a savic rody rabbit, so 90x50cm. An absolute mansion for her. She also has a huge playpen made from an old samsung 56inch tv box
Here's a little pic of her having a treat in her playpen

She looks like a lovely little robo Claire. My lad (Fred) was also a rehomed robo and they are great little hamsters. Wish Fred would sit on my hand, he`s more inclined to shred it!!!

Re: Rescued Alfie! <3
Just read your other thread regarding Alfie`s start in life and that pet shop sounds terrible. In this day and age anyone running a so called pet shop should be providing best care and knowledge about the animals they stock, not housing them in tiny enclosures and filth. I would definitely expose this place to the council inspectors and refer to the issues you seen there and ask them to report back to you with their findings if they do such a thing. I`m not sure what council protocol is when inspecting premises. Make it clear to them that you want action taken or you will also be contacting the SPCA with your findings as they fail to meet the criteria set out in law, which would be clean caging, access to light and shade, low stress and good diet and enrichment basics.
Little Alfie will be glad that you found him Clare and your sister will have fun times just watching him, I`m sure.

Re: Rescued Alfie! <3
Thanks all! She really is gorgeous. Has me pining for another hammy but I'm the same DecterChloe, my OH is not for having any more! I'm working on picking away at his defence though
I'm in the process with my local council RH. And the woman who I've been dealing with has told me I'm not the only one, so hopefully something will change. I think it may have been bought over at some point, improved, and sold on again so that may be why it's fell under the radar for so long The guy working there was less than useless. He knew nothing about them. It took him a minute to even realise what I had meant when I said roborovski. Didn't ask me what type of accommodation he'd be in, if I knew they were usually too fast to handle and not suitable for kids etc.
It's the best feeling when I get to see Alfie every week and am reminded what a great life she has. My sister dotes on her. She's one spoiled wee robo
