Re: 3 new Robo Hamsters
I'm going to get the zoozone1 or 2.
One was chasing the other and I heard squeaking so I think I need to seperate them so soon
I really don't know what to do and if I should keep them all
I've spoke to them and tried stroking them lightly at times but I've not really got involved with them as they needed to settle. There is no blood or anything and the chasing only lasted a few seconds do I definitely need to split them up?

Re: 3 new Robo Hamsters
I'm afraid that no-one else can give a definite answer. You're the one who saw it so you'll have to decide.
At the moment its not definetly a case where they definetly need to be split though. Oh and if they're untame, my favourite way to check for fur loss e.t.c is to get a clear glass jar (like from pasta sauce or whatever), remove the label and offer it to the hams. When one walks in, tip it up and check them through the glass. Repeat for the others, all one at a time.

Re: 3 new Robo Hamsters
Thank you Kyrilliondaemon. I won't be able to get another cage will Wednesday so I hope they will be ok till then. I can put 1 or 2 in the bath if they desperately need splitting before then.
I'l definitely try the glass trick, will I be able to sex them using this? They are only 2/3 months old and I don't really know if that's too early to tell with Robo's.

Re: 3 new Robo Hamsters
You can sex them from four weeks or younger usually... Some are awkward to sex but you should be able to tell
I just won't guarantee it after Muffin pretended to be female at four months and only showed to be male at 6 months or so lol
We use the glass trick for pretty much everything with robos - including confirming the sex of our newest robo lad

Re: 3 new Robo Hamsters
Thank you once again.
If I do have different genders is it likely they've mated already? They've been together for 3 days + however long they've been in the pet shop.

Re: 3 new Robo Hamsters
I always suggest taking pictures when sexing Robos. If you're anything like me, you'll doubt what you saw as soon as you put them down again -- I ended up sexing my Darla about five times in the space of five minutes, which was stressful for both of us, until I got my camera and took a picture for reference -- and it means you can also ask us if you are unsure

Re: 3 new Robo Hamsters
I'm have great difficulty trying to get pictures of them to determine the gender. I've tried putting them in glass/plastic jars but they won't stop moving long enough for me to get a picture.
I've also seen a little but of blood near the tail of one of them so I'm afraid I need to split them.

Re: 3 new Robo Hamsters
Will do.
Do I separate the victim or try to find out the bully? I also won't have a 2nd cage until Wednesday - I've ordered the zoo zone 2. Will they be ok until then or should I be doing something?
