Default 2am sex change

As you know, Bruce and Sylvester's robo babies now live together - girls in one Gabber (with both mums) and boys in another Gabber (with Emerson my robo who was in the wars elsewhere).

There's been a bit of squabbling amongst the boys recently so I've moved them into my bedroom on the floor next to my bed so I can keep an eye on them. Last night, there was a lot of squabbling and it woke me up at 2am. I decided I'd better investigate further and sat there watching the little monkeys to try and work out who was causing the trouble. I eventually managed to remove one troublemaker (although there may be more - I guess I'll find out tonight!) and after a close inspection, I thought OMG, you look like a girl! I put the culprit in a ball, had a cup of tea (to wake myself up!) and had another look....you still look like a girl. So, sex change robo has now been moved to live in the girls Gabber. But...this does mean that there is a possibility of more babies as if I'm right this time (and she is female), she could already be pregnant, and if I'm wrong this time (and she's male), all my females could end up pregnant!

I know the easy solution would have been to stick her in a separate cage but 1) I didn't want her to be alone and 2) it was 2am and the emergency bin is in use (by Hoff) so it would have meant unboxing and setting up a new Gabber and I just couldn't face it at that time in the morning knowing that I had to get up early for work in a few hours.

So, tonight I will be doing a sex inspection of both Gabbers. Wish me luck! At this rate, they'll be coming to Blenheim for Pete and Chris to have a look at them!

although they are capable of breeding, I highly doubt that a Robo would breed that young. A lot of them don't breed until about 4 months old. I'd just put her in with girls and keep an eye on her.

Hiya,

don't feel bad, this has happened to me so many times - especially before they are 3 or 4 months old!

I would think the chances of her being pregnant are pretty slim as they don't usually breed until after their first winter - but it does happen, so just keep a close eye on them.

Are you going to be at Blenheim on Monday? if so, i could have a go at sexing them for you if you like? I might be there on Sunday too, but will be quite late if i am....

Good Luck - don't worry

Tammy x

I hope so Bunsey!!! If I end up with more robo babies, I'll definitely have to sell them this time as I have no space left at all. And 23 robos is enough for me!

I feel shattered today....its given me ideas for names for them though - I'm thinking latte, cappuccino, espresso, macchiato......

lol! those are quite good names, actually! especially Expresso!

I had 7 robos and then another 14 popped out, so almost as many as you! I had cages lying around the living room floor. It was a total nightmare. Finding decent people to house them was a nightmare, too. All I got was people in America asking me to post them or dumb people saying "I would like want robo for me please. send me ham". or "I will buy all your ham. you post singapore, yes? me pay for posting"

I wish I still had some of those e-mails. They were good for a laugh

Thanks Tammy - I'll be at Blenheim but on the Sun....so we might catch each other but it depends how late you get there....I doubt I'll be there all day as I always fret about the hams at home and want to get back and show them some love - some of them do like their tea on the table by 6pm!! They have me well trained!

Lol, absolutely classic!! I hope you weren't thinking of keeping the best hams for yourself and just selling the sweaty ones.

Oops! lol! A similar thing happend to us once, our syrian went from being a "Sadie" to a "Hammy". lol

We had found "Sadie" in the kitchen one day (we lived above the petshop and found escapees sometimes) and decided to keep her. It was only when we showed our new pet to the petshop staff that we realised that we had completely overlooked the giant male parts that he had! It was so funny. Me and my sister were about 11 at the time, it was like someone had switched our hamster in the middle of the night, i swear it was a girl when we found it.
