I've paired up non-related pairs before that have worked out fine I actually had two pairs of sisters living together that were from completely different places, one pair were 9 months older than the other pair but they all got along amazingly from the word go! In lots of cases pairing up a very young dwarf of 5/6 weeks old with an older calmer dwarf can work out really well. I think the trouble really comes when trying to introduce two hams of the same/similar age, it's not something I have tried though so I can't be sure

Wow that's really interesting, how much research did you do before getting them? (I guess it was alot) hehe x

Actually not a huge amount! I already had the older pair and the only research I had been doing was on breeding robos. Then I rescued the young pair. A couple of months later one of the older pair, Cookie, developed a tumour and so because I worried about how her sister would cope living alone after she passed I decided to move the two pairs in with each other. I just did it slowly and carefully in an empty, clean cage, added more toys over the days and they just took to it really well!

This was them on their first night together <3

I think I know quite alot about dwarf hamsters but I guess you learn when you have them and it's mainly housing I struggle with now Willow has an Alexander but I think with dwarf hamsters I would like to have them in A plastic cage

That video just really made me miss Cookie and Pippy
It was lovely seeing all four cuddled, just kinda bittersweet. Does show how great they were that others still miss them too though

(And yes I know Pippy wasn't a robo but remembering and missing Cookie reminded me of her - both were amazing hamsters)
