She's HUGE! It looks like it might be a big litter, that or big pups. I love the pic of her in the meal worm box.

Oh, oh, I didn't realise quite how much opposition Robos were getting either! I love the little critters so much, and this is making me want my far off breeding plans to be not so far off at all...

Although I have to say, I too am surprised at red-eyed Robos getting recognised before the whites

Hiya

Red Eyed Robos have actually been around a lot longer than the Pied and especially the whites.

They have actually been around since the middle of 2009 and i was very lucky to be able to get some in December 2009 that were very closely related to the very first ones to occur!

Here is my thread about them at the time:

My long awaited new Robos!!!!

Oh Erin, I am so tempted, but the boyfriend would probably leave me if I took in more surprise hamsters More seriously, I actually could not in good conscience get more hammies, I underestimated how much more work two was compared to one (although Annie is a bit more demanding than Darla is ), especially when paired with my stupidly long work days (I leave the house at 6:30 am, get back home at 6 pm, then have to cook, then fall asleep on the sofa most evenings and go to bed before 10).

ETA: Tammy, I hadn't realised the red-eyes were that "old"! Must just be because I haven't really seen them on this forum I am a member on Mad About Hamsters but I rarely go over there -- not sure why, I just end up on this forum more (Also will you be bringing lots of Robos to the Kingswinford show? I have to admit, part of the reason I am willing to travel so far to attend it is because you'll be there )

We got our first good look at a baby today! A beautiful headspot who wandered out of the nest to eat the hamster popcorn

It looks super healthy, nice and fat and the headspot is brown and quite big! Those of you who have me added on Facebook there will be a photo up later *I used a telephoto zoom lens to get the photo so as not to disturb the cage at all* The babies are now too big for Cwtch to carry around with her, she ended up dragging the baby back into the nest by it's face!!!

The babies are exactly 1 week old today, even louder than they were a few days ago and some interesting news, it seems as though Tatty may actually be a headspot robo with a hidden spot as a few of the babies are pied like Cwtch! We won't know for certain until the babies emerge but if they are a mix of headspots and pied then Tatty is more than probably a hidden headspot however in the unlikely event that there are other colours in the litter then Tatty is a pied white and the reasoning for unexpected colours will simply be down to not enough being known about pied whites yet. The hidden headspot is much more likely

That's very interesting, I curious to see what Tatty really is. And I can't wait for pictures!
