Re: Robo hamsters FIGHTING?? Pleaase reply urgently :(
Just a thought (and please dont take it the wrong way) but are they 100% the same sex. I had two and i was told they were the same sex, then they started to fight and one of them had little bites on her back leg. I split them but the noticed one was a girl and the other a boy...i thought they were both girls when i got them....just a thought.
I hope it does work out as its so nice having hammys live together x

Yes...do you know why this might be a cause?

I got them from an experienced breeder of robo hamsters - he also shows them so I would think they are the correct sex. I will just go and check.

I mentioned it before. Tubes can cause fighting, modules can cause fighting and the habitrail ovo loft doesn't quite meet the minimum size reccomendations and too small a cage can also cause fighting.
It might have nothing to do with it, but the cage does have a few risk factors unfortunately.

Salt has a few bites above his tail, so I think I am going to have to seperate them. The bites don't look very recent, and Pepper has not got any.
And they do curl up and go to sleep together... I don't know what I should do?!

The cage is actually the one meant for Syrian hamsters - the one which is about 70 by 30cm, and has not got any tubes (except for the one which is about 10cm long and has the water bottle in and doesn't connect anything). Do you think this is still a risky cage?
Oh and by the way I like your new signature! >_<

Re: Robo hamsters FIGHTING?? Pleaase reply urgently :(
mm, the ovo loft isnt really suitable for a syrian either..
When pip and pop were together, at first they were fine, then they went through *puberty* and turned on each other for a bit, then they settled back down again. i guess when they were fighting (fairly mildly) i was switching their cages quite a bit, which obviously wasn't a good idea. like yours, they still slept in the same house together though :'D anyway, you tend to know the right time to separate them

Re: Robo hamsters FIGHTING?? Pleaase reply urgently :(
Thanks
I'm glad there are no tubes or modules, thats definetly good
Unfortunately though 70cm by 40cm is the minimum advised size for a dwarf pair
(Oh and even as a syrian cage the ovo loft is too small for a syrian - their minimum is either 70cm by 40cm or ideally 80cm by 50cm)
If there are bites I'm afraid you should separate. The rule is simple - if blood is drawn then its best to separate (at least temporarily) to prevent more being drawn in future.
We had to separate our robo girls when they were still friends most of the time, but it was either that or risk a nastier injury so it wasn't really a choice in the end.
I hope you've got a spare cage handy for one of them.
