Default Twitching in sleep?

Hey guys,

I've just got myself two female (I hope!) robos. I had a male a few months ago but he was a rescue and didn't survive very long in my care. :/ Since he didn't live too long, I'm so scared of anything happening to my two girls. So if I constantly ask questions that seem silly it's just my anxiety and I apologise in advance.

Anyway, my females seem a bit lazy (though in the shop they were very active), and since I've been able to observe them sleeping a lot I've noticed that in her sleep, one of them (Saffron) does an odd twitching. Eve doesn't do it. It's not constant, it's every so often (maybe every minute or so?) and it's just a slight jerk of the body. My initial thought was "Oh, she must be dreaming," but now I'm not so sure.

I know myself that I do a lot of moving about in my sleep, so could it just be that she is jumpy in her sleep? Or maybe stressed from her move. She's only been here for about 36 hours.

I'm probably overreacting but I guess the best thing I can do is leave them in my room to settle. I've given them some wee treats scattered throughout their cage so hopefully that'll help them settle.

Mandy my dwarf pet shop hybrid used to fall asleep on my lap. She used to wiggle her nose, ears & feet just like a dog does in its sleep/dreams.

She would then wake up, stretch her whole body without getting up & fall back to sleep all without opening her eyes

Hey Templar,

Please don't worry about asking questions, I remember bringing my first robos home and worrying so much I was going to do something wrong, or something was going to go wrong. Then I found this place, and over the years I've learned so much, so just keep asking!

I'm sorry you lost the little boy, sometimes they are just called away too early and there is nothing we could have done

With the sleeping, well I have nine robos here at the moment and if I have a little tour of those that i can sleep, I'll tell you what they are doing.......

......Dasher is sleeping in a ball doing a little shrug every now and then, Billy is sleeping on his side having a little scratch every now and then. Lola is up, but Lilly I can peer into the log they have as a nest, she is eatcing in her sleep. Whizzbit is completely still and flat, fast asleep, Rolo is up, but he's normally a twitchy sleeper. Peaches and Marmalade are tucked right at the back of their nest, but Marmalade as she's nervous has her ears up as usual.

So you see they're all different, and all are exhibiting completely normal robo behavior. My boy The Cloud who has passed on used to sleep run really fast. He'd sleep on his side and his little legs would be zooming along. I think your little ladies are just fine.

You're right to give them some settling in time, they are probably keeping very close, and getting a lot of sleep in after the big change. They'll come out and about when they're ready

Thanks guys, I feel a lot better now since she was up and acting normal last night. They've pushed all the bedding out of their little house and are sleeping on the plastic. Silly moos.

I wonder if they know we get as nervous as they do when we first get them? Haha.

Pompompoms, your babies sound really interesting to watch. The Cloud sounds like he would have given hours of entertainment! Sorry he passed xx

Aw thank you, he was nearly two and a half when he passed, so he had a good long life. He was certainly entertaining my little white loony!

Glad to hear you're feeling better about things, I look forward to seeing pics of them when they're settled and ready
