Default Robo colour genetics

Heya, I was wondering if someone could help me with colouring of robos
So I have been researching about this because I am hopefully going to start breeding robos in the nearish future

Anyway to the question:
One of my robos (Pippin) who has always been a lone robo is slightly lighter than my other robo and I always wondered about this. Now I know husky is recessive but I read somewhere that robos carrying this recessive gene can be lighter in colour due to this gene not being completely recessive. is this true or is it just a light colour of agouti? Maybe it's not completely recessive?

She is also more silky in her fur appearance and it seems slightly longer than my other robo, is this related or just random?

I am studying genetics with my course so I am really intrested in this side of breeding also. I would love to breed her because she's absolutely beautifull and has a good personality but she is pet shop bought so I don't think it's good to do this.

Thank you for any help in advance

Hopefully Tammy will be along to advise but I have been told that, as you suggest, carrying the husky gene does lighten the coat of the agouti animal. There is lots of info on Tammy's website about robos that you may want to check out.

Hiya

Yes, like Souffle has said, Agouti robos that carry the recessive husky gene do tend to get lighter with age as they tend to fade.

I have noticed that some of my robos and some of the robos i have seen photos of seem to have a more fuller, fluffier coat, where as other seem to have a more flat coat, and to be honest i ont know why! and i am still trying to document the differences to see if it is to do with age, genetics, sex etc. but havent really been able to figure anything out yet.

I always think that if you have the choice it is better to breed from robos that you know the background of, so if you are serious about breeding then it is a good idea to contact some breeders to see if they have any suitable robos available. but, one good thing with robos is that they dont tend to suffer as much from inbreeding like some of the other species do, and also they cant be hybrids, so breeding from pet shop robos isnt really as bad as breeding from other species from pet shops.

Like i said, i really would try to get some robos with a few generations of info, but it wont be two much of a problem to use your robo as long as she is completely healthy and capable of carrying and looking after a litter.

After all it is you choice But if you need any help please let me know

Thank you very much for your reply.
I will hopefully start breeding next year and have been researching alot. I will be getting my breeding robos from breeders.

I just thought because Pippin is such a beautiful robo ( I may be bias being her mum) but her fur is so smooth and shiny and because I think she may be carrying the husky gene I could possibly breed her over the summer while I have the time. If I got a male from a breeder with a good background would this be possible?
Obviously not a deffinate just yet.

I bought her from the adoption area at pets at homeso she's always lived alone (I tried introducing her to gizmo my other female but they really didn't get on) so maybe I could keep the female babies with her?

One more thing, she has a small lump on one of her front feet just above one of her toes. I've been monitoring it for months and it hasn't changed so maybe she was born with it?
Would Thisbe a problem with breeding.?

Sorry for all the questions
But thank you so much for your help
