Re: tips for new robo owner
The mite spray is fantastic used it on the dwarves and they got their fur back and never caught them since, everyone is getting sprayed tonight so when they leave little un they wont find another host.
She is loving the millet spray I put in her cage which will sure hope with her weight, she is sooooo small god its painful looking at her.
The rostank went in the bin gave them a tenner for her and the cage, they had her on gerbil food which went in the bin damp and moldy not stored properly.
her water bottle leaked so its out so new everything, she is so nervous, if you touch the cage she rolls back and exposes her teeth dont know what the hell they have done to her, her paws are red and covered in poop, gonna use a paint brush and warm water and wash them.
They had her for a few weeks before christmas the little girl only had her at christmas she was kept int he bloody shed!
Thank god they have no other pets.

Re: tips for new robo owner
Poor hamster!
Good idea spraying everyone though.
She will get the weight back in time.
Our two were both skinny when we got them, Whizz was less than half what she should've been, and Skip wasn't much better, but we just gave them unlimited food for a while and they both got the weight back in the end. Now Skip is still small, but after his start in life he always will be unfortunately.
Good plan binning her old cage. It sounds horrible and wouldn't be much use without adding it to other things anyway.
I'm sure she appreciates some nice non-mouldy food, and the millet will definetly be great news for her. Whizz was nearly addicted while she needed to get her weight back lol (Shes calmed down about it now, so really was just going at it so madly while she was underweight)
The rotastak bottles are horrible (way too low for anything with a decent layer of substrate), but given the state of her cage new everything is probably best.
Poor girl being that scared. Maybe leave her get more used to people before you try and start taming? Whizz used to hide the second she saw movement even if it was on the other side of the room, so we had to delay taming by a few months. Now she's just nervous if we're watching her outside her cage, and sometimes panics when she realises we want to get her out of her cage.
Good luck washing her paws... I hope she feels better afterwards. Poor poor hamster
And stupid people! Hamsters in the shed in December... She's lucky to be alive really.
But yeah, I'm very glad they don't have other pets. Hope they never get others either.

Sigh. So glad you rescued her Laura. I hate to think just how many other 'unwanted presents' are being neglected. If only I had more room.

Re: tips for new robo owner
well crying now washed her feet, she squeaked and squealed the whole time, used some detol for wounds and warm water gently rubbing it off as I held her in kitchen towel, she seemed better walking back in her cage got her on carefresh, she is cleaning herself right now, keeping a eye on her, got my red light on her, it makes the room light but doesn't bother the hamsters.
I didnt want the old cage going to anyone, gave me some satisfaction binning it.
Cancled my dvds on amazon transformers dark side of the moon and planet of the apes thats £20 for toys for her from pets at home.
Got to get some sand to.
So much to do dang...
She wont be leaving me I know what I am like, I will nurse her and tame her and by that time will be attached so no chance of her going.
Got my stethescope out...(yep pink one rats have terrible lung issues so its handy) she has a clear chest which is a miricle, put some vitamins on her food she is taking them in and the bonio has had a nibble poor blighter seems utterly starved, she worked out the Ovo water bottle in a instant.

Does the ovo loft have a wheel? if she needs one I have a spare silent spinner (hamsters dying means I'm abundant in things!) I assume there's the wheel in it, but thought I'd offer.

Re: tips for new robo owner
It's fine, just thought I'd offer. In future I'm only going to have one hamster at a time, (had 5 until recently) so didn't need it. I used to be the same as you, obsessively buying toys in bulk ^.^
Glad she's alright looking forward to seeing her.
