Hiya

I'm sorry your robos had to be separated, did you go through all the possibilities for reintroduction? Often they will have a fall out, especially is possible to reunite.

There are some very useful tips for reintroduction here on Tammy's site.

Oak Farm Rabbits and Rodents

I am in the process of trying to reintroduce two of my boys at the moment

If all attempts to reintroduce have failed, you can either try to find a little one from a breeder or pet shop (there are often single robos left for adoption that just haven't been bought from that litter). Six weeks old is very young though, you'd usually be looking at about eight weeks. Under seven weeks you normally wouldn't have any problems, but over and it depends on the hams you're introducing them too. I recently introduced a seven week old and a five week old to a female, she accepted the five week old and rejected the seven week old seeing her as an adult.

I think the most important thing to consider though is that for whatever reason, at any time your new ham could be rejected/reject her cage mate and you would be keeping another separate robo. It's an individual decision as to whether you would have the space, time and finances for this.

Good luck!

Thank you for your help

i knew younger was better but you can never quite know the age of one from a pet shop.
My story is quite long but I will shorten it.

I started off with two females Grace and Gizmo from a pet shop, they were my first robos. They never really got on and i separated them. I then found another female in the adoption center (Pippin) and brought her home to introduce to Grace. but I reintroduced grace and Gizmo since they both seemed quite sad even though Gizmo was the bully.
Anyway, unfortunatly little gracey died and i miss her so much because she was the tamest and i spent two weeks looking after her with antibotics and she knew to stay still and would sit in my hand.

Iv had Pippin and Gizmo is opposite sides of a split tank, changed sawdust and toys over and had them in a playpen with a mesh between them and after 4 weeks they still hated each other. I think i did everything right :-S

Gizmo is too obsessed with food to share it or even her space and prefers being left alone which is fine with me i just watch her.
i had to separate them completely because in the split cage they both because territorial and really nippy with me. they are better now in split cages.

I defiantly have the space for more hamsters if they have to live apart. I will just move some of my stuff.

I will stay on the lookout for breeders near me. I live in sussex.

thank you again

Awwww I'm sorry about Grace, she sounds like such a special little girl

You really can try everything possible, and sometimes it just doesn't work out, be happy that you did everything you could to try and settle them. My beautiful boy The Cloud was a determinedly single man his whole life, and nothing in the whole world would have convinced him to share his space. As he expressed this with violence, I soon realised he was very much best left as he was, and his brother Jam remained well away from him!!

Thank you, she was gorgeous and left me too soon.

Aww I think some robos just dont want to share anything

I will be on the lookout for a little robo as I am buying a new cage in a couple of weeks so will be able to look at the adoption centre near me.
Thank you for your help
