Hey guys....

everytime i come on here i see a new thread with pictures of cute robos and it has made me come to the conclusion that i NEED one in my life!!!

soooo.... i have never had any experience with any other hamsters than Syrians. so i was hoping all you robo experts out there could give me as much advice as possible?

Hehe I might be able to offer some help
As pairs robos do really really well but of course there is still the chance they will fight so you will need to bare in mind However the lone robos are much easier to tame.
I wouldnt reccomend getting them from a pet shop for 2 reasons, one they are much harder to tame and two they can be prone to diabetes so getting well bred robos should slim the chances of it right down.

Cage wise weather they are pairs or singles get the biggest cage you can because they LOVE exploring so you will want to absolutely fill it with toys. The logs with holes in are great as are the cubes with holes in as they adore playing hide and seek Tunnels, tubes, small climbing frames... anything that gets them up exploring and running will make them incredibly happy.
With pairs follow the usual rules of two wheels, two houses, two bottles, scatter feeding etc and you should be fine though I really reccomend getting a silent spinner or a really quiet wheel because they run on them for hours and hours in the night.

I have found that boys smell a little more than girls so I keep my Trevor in an open topped bin cage otherwise he sticks the room out but girls arent really smelly at all.
Investing in some small dwarf running balls is great especially if you can get hold of clear ones (ebay has them) as often when they are young they cant move the Syrian sized running balls. They dont tend to wake up that much in the day time is usually in the dead of night until early in the morning so it can mean having to get up really early to play with them - but of course all robos are different.

For food try and get something with low sugar content (eg Harry Hamster, Burgees etc) and avoid snacks that have honey in them like the fruit sticks/blocks. Stick to the different flavoured drops and fresh vegetables (never fruit). Scatter feeding is best with pairs and much more fun as they have to work for their food so hide it in toys and tubes too.

Lastly I would get a sand bath because they LOVE them! At one point I actually turned half of C&Ts cage into a sand bath but it was a nightmare to clean

Apart from that I cant think of anything else right now. Id add pictures but Ive put them all up on another thread so... Good luck!

thanks for the info guys!!

would a mini duna be ok as a home for a solo robo?? just because i just moved Melv (syrian) into his zoozone so have a spare cage floating about... which needs to be filled. lol. and this may be the only way i can talk my OH into me getting another.... not having to buy another cage.

A mini Duna is fine for a single robo, with the shelf in you can make some really interesting set ups for them with all sorts of ways up and down, lots of little hiding places, lots of toys ect. I've housed several singles in my Duna at various times, and they've all been very happy there

I love my little robo Cas to pieces, but so far he's my only hamster I haven't managed to tame properly (yet, anyway, I live in hope!). I would never talk anyone out of getting a robo because they are wonderful, but just a word of warning: be aware that when people say they are fast, they are really, really fast. I didn't realise there would be such a big difference between how fast my hybrids can move and how Cas can disappear from sight in a blink! He makes my poor Syrian look like a snail. But it's so enjoyable watching him zoom about, and he has the sweetest little face, he melts my heart. Totally worth the effort.

My baby gets up a lot during the day! She is really nosey. All I have to do is say "fluffball" near her cage and she pokes her noose out of her bed to see who it is. She comes to the front of the tank to see me but she doesnt not like to be held one bit but I am happy just interacting with her like I do. I dont like to stress her too much.

Hehe too right! Here is a video of Kiku and Jení when they were just over a month old running at full speed around their cage. They got faster as they got older! XD

Once they reach a year old you will notice that they slow down a bit and become calmer.
