Question White Platinum Robos Breeding

Hello everybody!

My hamster is this:

Baby robo hamster escapes - YouTube

Her name is "Markisia" and it's a totally white platinum robo from her birth..
It makes me impression because I can't find any picture of white robos like her!
It's not very usual but when I went to buy her six months ago all her brothers were white too..
My problem is how I can find a husband to reproduce her! I can't find a white one this time! Does anyone knows what would happenned if I mated her with a white-faced only? Any possibility of white babies???

Anyone else with totally white robos??

Tammy at Oak Farm and pompompoms on the forum has been working with others on the white robo and they have established that for a Roborovski to be born White they need to inherit one Dominant White - Faced gene, from either parent, and two Recessive White - Faced genes, one from each parent. Thanks to this new information there are more and more White babies being born, so hopefully they will be more common very soon!
Not sure where you are in the world but this is in the UK.

Hiya, Welcome to the forum

I have been working with Tammy, and also am working currently with another breeder to establish white lines. I had a white robo myself from which I bred five whites. I am now breeding one of those whites and have from his first litter a white girl here at the moment, there was another white in that litter but sadly it didn't make it.
I have just had a litter born today from my white boy and Wessex hams husky girl which hopefully will produce more whites.

Markisia is lovely, do I see a small brown spot on her head? If so she isn't actually a white, she falls in to the category of Pied robos, just being a very diluted version.

Hamtastic has two lovely diluted Pied girls Leela and Dora, if you have a look through for her pics you'll see they are very similar.

The whites don't have any brown marks at all, they do have a little grey stripe on the ears though remaining from the mutation from husky which created whites.

Here's a good shot of the front and the back of whites, two of my boys from my first lot of breeding.

Here you can see four of the five white boys. The second from the left as you view it looks like he might have a brown dot, it's actually a scab where he got bitten on the bum ouch!

Yes, Markisia looks like my girls One has a grayish small mark and the other has a larger and darker and more brown mark. Both are completely white aside from that, and as I understand are different genetically from the platinums (who have some gray along the ears instead)--though they do look very similar.

It would be best for you to get a solid wheel for your little one too as they can seriously hurt their feet on the barred wheels.
She is very cute.

Hiya

You have been given lots of good advice already but i just wanted to add that your robos are actually another new colour which is currently being described as simply 'Headspot' Robos.

I have heard that this colour is a combination of one of the pied genes together with one of the white faced genes, but i havent had chance to find aout anything more as i havent been able to arrange getting my male 'headspot' robo from Finland yet

Hopefully we will have more info on this colour soon once more people start breeding them

Ok now I'm confused... because my robos looked exactly like his (and Dora still does). What's the difference between "headspot" and the spot in the middle between ears from diluted pied? Dora's got no brown on her spot; it's a small gray spot.

Here is a photo of "Markisia".
I think that it's a new type of roborovski. Completely white with a dark spot between the ears.
