Question ZooZone2 for 2 roborovski hamsters

Some of the recent discussions have made me wonder if ZZ2 is bordering on too big for a pair of adult robos. The benefits of having more floor space are of course the ability to fit more toys and playing areas and have more room to run around and avoid each other if one needs a break.

But is it so big that territorial issues might arise?

In my experience with my two girls, it seems like the more space, the better with the two of them. Their life in ZZ1 was okay until Dora decided she wanted to be left alone more by the very active (and crazy) Leela. I think with more room to spread wheels around and such, Dora would have some more peace, no?

I'm not even sure if a ZZ2 I wanted to get is still available, but if it is, I'm trying to make a decision soon if I should go pick it up.

P.S.: I wish I could read German so I could look at some German robo set ups and see how their hamsters get along in their nicely huge cages

use google chrome and it offers to translate it for you?

But I have no idea about the zz2 thing..I think it depends upon the individual robos tbh, you could do everything wrong and it could be fine, everything wrong and they could fall out

Yeah, and I feel like I've been doing mostly as recommended for mine, but Dora wasn't having it. I think they are still more comfortable with some company of their own kind though, so I'm looking into ZZ2 because it seems to be to offer some balance between separation and living together with more freedom.

I'd agree, I hate that dancer doesn't have a friend, I'd love to introduce him to a younger robo, but if they fell out I'd obviously have two lonely robos!

I considered getting a baby robo for Leela too, but none of the rescues in my area have young robos, so that idea fell through. But I just hope Dora will put up with her longer

That guy still has his ZZ2 for sale, and it would cost me ~$45--28gbp with transportation costs (the cage itself is $25--15gbp, grr).

Also I was idly looking at ZZ2 and robo keywords of various forms on Google and came upon this :

An idea for the future, I suppose.

I did keep my pair of robos in the ZZ2 when I first had them with no problems, they loved all the room. However I did have to move them as space was an issue at the time, personally I would have happily kept them in it

Thank you, Mel. If everything goes well over the weekend, I've arranged to meet with the ZZ2 seller on Monday. For now I'll observe and research. If anyone else has any additional bits of wisdom, they would be greatly appreciated too.

As with everything with our little furry friends as individuals they'll react well, individually!

I posted about getting a ZZ2 for my robos quite a while back, and someone advised me not to as their robos hadn't done well in it due to too much space. I was convinced it was you Mel but it must have been someone else as your girls were happy in theirs.

My boys are really happy in their ZZ1, but I'll have everything crossed that Leela and Dora totally settle for good in their big new home be it the ZZ2 or the aquarium

Im sure it will be great
everything i believe really is for the individual hamster (or hamsters)
and if the zoozone1, seems too small for them, the zoozone2 should be good

I don't know how much floorspace the ZZ2 has, sorry. But my two robo girls were moved from their 20 gallon long (about 2322 square cm) when they were full grown to a converted detolf cage (about 6612 square cm) without an issue. They don't argue over space and if anything their little squabbles have decreased. Lots of people on the German forums use larger cages, though it has only recently come to their attention that hamsters can be kept together safely. Apparently it was not recommended a little while ago, and now some of them are trying though with much success from what I've heard.

There's some links here of German cages: Aquariums: SAMMELTHREAD: Aqua/Terra-Einrichtungs-Ideen - ARCHIV - Käfige und Einrichtung - www.das-hamsterforum.de
