Re: Leela and Dora's adventures!
Aw, my little Dora got startled today after I came in to the apartment and closed the front door. Leela was just fine, running around, but Dora pancaked on her wheel and did the "I'm not here" routine. I was standing near her for a while trying to soothe the poor girl. Gave her a sunflower seed, which she barely sniffed and kept staying still. I stroked her back gently for some time and she eventually started looking around. Leela stole her sunflower seed
To brighten her up a bit, I put an unshelled peanut next to her, and of course, Leela had to take a few bites of that too. So I opened it up and got one peanut out. That finally did it for Dora, and she's now sitting and munching on the peanut--still very shaken up, poor thing.
And to start it all, I didn't even make any loud sounds It was the regular front door opening (that does screech a bit). Silly hamster. She was so funny looking as a pancake on her wheel--I almost went for my camera but felt bad.

Re: Leela and Dora's adventures!
Today, Leela and Dora ventured out to a stormy desert in Africa to capture a camel.
Well, more or less... they started off slow by checking out their new play pen and playground I made today.
Leela surveying the horizon for camels
I think she spotted one
In a hot pursuit of a camel...
Leela looking for food
Ahh there's some food!

Camels? Where are you?

I am happy to report that the girls have returned home safely, although they never did catch any camels.

That's so cute they seem so confident, my man just hides in a box during play time >.<
I hope they have more success next time!

Re: Leela and Dora's adventures!
They used to be a lot more timid with coming out of their cages. After they moved to their ZooZone1 they became overall happier and more confident. I should note though, that the cardboard play pen is just big enough for them to not be scared. When I let them out on the floor in my room (half the room, boarded off on all sides for safety), they seemed very out of their element.

Re: Leela and Dora's adventures!
No, just non-toxic wood glue.

Re: Leela and Dora's adventures!
Yeah, I'm not a fan of mealworms either, but they are good for my hams, so I deal with it
