They are too cute! Holly I am with you no robo's in my house either! Why is it that robos are the same in appearance and not different looking like syrian's? I can't tell the difference between these two...

It is just that they have fewer colours suga. If you have ever seen a litter of 11 short haired creams all with black eyes well....

Unless you had one with a white face it would be hard to tell them apart! My first two robos were impossible to tell apart! Luckily for me Muffin has a little white snip in between her eyes so I can tell who is who of my girls.

What do researches use on animals when trying to tell them apart? sometimes they will mark the fur with a color? is it some kind of marker of friendly dye? maybe you could do something similar?

souffle, the thing is I have only ever seen ones that look like the ones in the foto. Even in the shops they look like that. I understand what you are saying, maybe I just haven't spotted them that do look different. Such a generalistic thing to say - sorry. :)

What I mean is with robos you really only see the normal or husky types where as with syrians there is a much bigger selection of colours available so a much greater chance of them being easier to have little differences to tell them apart. Except when you have 11 creams all together Also syrians are separate from an early age so you know who is in what cage so you never really have them together.

Now I see what you mean. I guess if they are living separately you would be able to see more of their indvidual behaviour and the way they do things, which would help identify them. thanks

Thanks. I won't take all of the credit. The rescue we got them from had started handling them already so they weren't totally new to people when we got them. But they have shown a lot of improvement since then. The first few nights they wouldn't come out of their nest until we'd switched the light out. Now they come out as soon as we're put the food in and they don't run straight back in when we get home from work either. The first night one jumped out of my OH's hands and hid under the rat cage but luckily I was able to retrieve her relativly stress-free and it hasn't happened since. We're trying to get them both out at least once a day, but sometimes it's hard to tell which we've already picked up
