Oh yes, sorry, I forgot about true albinos having pink eyes. However I was referring to the white coat colour rather than true albinos, so I should have edited that! They are stunning to look at, but if it meant tampering with their health to achieve this goal, I would`nt bother.

Did you have a look at the website Jesse? I'm not familiar with it, In fact I never saw the website until you posted the link. Its new to me.

There is contact information on the front page of the site. The email listed there is Send the site owner an email.

If you are looking to find a platinum for breeding you really need to consider the risks involved. You should also ask yourself if continuing to breed for this coloration is even ethical. Its probably best not to breed hamsters that come from inbred lines. I personally agree with Babyboos about being a purist.

Absolutely agree snuggleham. Just because they look pretty and you think 'I want one' is not a good reason to promote breeding of animals with possible health problems. Spinning is a serious neurological disorder which is a major problem for any afflicted hamster. You must think very carefully if you would want to risk propagating this problem.

I just want it as a pet I do not want to breed with it - it would be to sad to have spinner babies.

What a coincidence...me & OH were only talking last night about whether different colour variations would appear in robos before long. We concluded that the natural look is lovely and it would probably be bad for the breed as a whole to aim for it. (as keen rat-owners we love the variety of different colours but we appreciate that too many rat 'breeders' breed for colour alone and not temperament or health/longevity.) It's sad that there is a new colouration of robo but that it's already linked to a health problem
