Default Fun Pictures of Pichu!

Its been getting colder and colder lately, especially chilly in the house when the wind picks up, which was the case today. I was worried that Pichu might be a bit cold in his cage. Hes getting older so I want to be extra sure hes comfortable. So I cleaned his cage out today and filled it with about an inch and a half to two inches of aspen shavings. I figure the more he has to burrow in the warmer he will stay. Of course I added additional tissue paper.

I took some picture and wanted to share. Pichu had a bit of an interesting photo shoot.

This first picture shows the cleaned cage and the deep bedding. And because the aspen was layer on thick I added a hide-away tunnel for him. He really seemed to like it.

Here is an action shot of him in his wheel. Check out that hind foot, its so pink and fuzzy! Robo's have the most adorable paws ever!

Here is is coming up out of the hide-away tube.

In this picture he was just crawling out of his little tissue box house and I snapped this adorable picture. Smoo really liked this one in particular.

Birds eye view of Pichu pulling himself up out of the hide-away tube hehe. hammy pull-ups!

Finally this adorable picture of Pichu! he was actually cleaning his face but when I snapped the shot it looked as though he was trying to hide himself or something hehehe!

What adorable pictures these are of Pichu! You`ve also given me a great idea because I have some crittertrail tubes too hidden away and I`m sure I can make some `underground tunnels` like this for Tiny & Tubs! Now why did`nt I think of that before?!!

What age is Pichu now Snuggleham? He`s adorable. I`m hoping to get an Imac Fantasy cage for Scooby, my winter white soon, so my Ferplast Duna will then go to Tiny, who is currently in a Savic Rody tank. It will also give him a spare level to play on. I have a small Perfecto glass tank, but I`m not a fan of them because of the lack of being able to hang a water bottle properly, so I`ll stick to my plastic tanks for now!

I don't know why I never thought of burying tubes under sawdust until now lol! He really seems to like it. Pichu is two years old now! wow I cant believe that! Time has gone by so fast! Some of my first posts about Pichu was in 2005, you can see them on page two of this topic. He originally came with a cage mate but it ended up dieing, I'm not sure the cause, but aggression may have been the reason. So Pichu has pretty much been a lone ham all his life.

He's still alert and happy and runs on his wheel, though I have noticed him slowing down. He seems a bit more stiff as he walks around when he firsts wakes up, and has a tendency to fall asleep in random placed in the cage. Usually he would go back into his nest.

Bah, now that I realize he's pretty old I'm starting to realize his time for the rainbow bridge could come anytime. But for now he seems healthy for an old ham. Maybe I should breed him once to one of my females. Robos are hard to come by around here, and pichu has such a gentle personality, and no diabetes. He would probably make a good breeding specimen, expect I don't know anything about his parents.

Well reaching two and still going strong, I would say it`s tempting to keep his bloodline going! You would have little Pichu`s running around when he`s crossed over rainbow bridge?

I keep gerbils and mice aswell as hamsters as pets and all are male! I prefer males. Don`t know why, but I`ve always ended up with the male gender for some reason! I`m not complaining though because they are all my babies. x

They are great flicks. Looks like a very happy and content hammy. The tunnel is a good idea :D

It would be fun to breed him. I've always wanted to try breeding drawfs.. but the rest of my rodent space is being taken up by the six Mongolian gerbils I have left over from when I last bred them lol.

I cant find it in me to adopt any of them out to someone esle either. Wanting to breed Pichu is just my subconscious way of trying to keep him around from when he eventually passes on. I probably shouldnt since I really dont know anything about the blood lines of any of my robo's. Even though babies robos are so adorable and Ive always wanted quality picture documenting the growth stages of hamster pups! :P

Those pics are fantastic and I especially love the one of him with the shut eyes. Just gorgeous. It is tempting but which lady would you choose?

If I was going to breed I would probably choose Muffin. She is also sweet natured and has that cute little white marking between her brows. Ive never seen that on a robo before. Cupcake was the runt and is still small compared to Muffin. But I just dont know! *sigh* I soooo want to try breeding, but then there are all those other unaswered questions...

~Do I have enough space, Can I make space?
~Can I find homes for the babies? do I want to find homes for the babies?
~What if I keep some pups and they fight, then I need more room.
~Do I want to continue to the line besides one generation?

I have such trouble giving any pets away because at least with me I know how they are being treated. Robo's were hard to come by, but Im seeing them more and more in chain pet stores. I took Cupcake and Muffin of someones hands who lived in Connecticut and they didn't seem to be having an easy time placing them. So it could be the same for me.

It is very wise to take everything into consideration before breeding hamsters Snuggleham. You must do what is right for the animals not just because you want to breed and then can't take care of them all I am glad you are acting so responsibly
