Default Awaiting two new arrivals!

I didn’t really want to bring it up just yet, because I wasnt certain this would work out. But here is the start of the story. Someone on my live journal hamster community had a pair or robos (that’s she thought were both female) and ended up with some new robo babies! She was looking to find the pups homes for when they were ready to go about a week and a half ago. She happened to live in Connecticut and I appeared to be the only person to answer her call as a potential adoptee. We spoke back and fourth about the possibility of me taking on two of the little females.

In the end it worked out, smoo and I were able to find a place for them and just went out to pick up some supplies. We picked up a new ten-gallon fish tank for them, I also bought a new silent spinner (the cute small one made for mice and dwarfs), a shallow water bowl, as well as those timothy cubes.

Everything else I already had. The bedding is aspen shavings; I never use pine or cedar of course. I also have an igloo for them.. eventually I think I'd like to find them a smaller nest to give more space in the tank. To the left of the picture you can see I already have a sand bath for their greasy little robo fur! With the new tank topper able to accommodate tubes Ill probably add a tower similar to Pichu’s cage.

I’m planning on meeting with the lady this Saturday with Smoo. Still waiting for her to confirm the meeting time, Hopefully it works out and I can pick them up. Since I cant tell robos apart to well from one another (given their making are pretty much exactly the same) I was thinking of naming them cupcake and muffin hehe.. It was smoo’s suggestion. Anyway here is a picture of the goodies I put together for them.

Oh Snuggleham that is sooooooooooo exciting I can't wait to meet them Robos are so speedy they will provide you with hours of entertainment and getting them so young will hopefully mean you can tame them nicely and they will stay together for life. I like the names. We have a chiwawa next door called Muffin but he barks so much we call him Wuffin Muffin

Hehe, I love robo's, the one I have now, Pichu is so much fun to watch at night. He’s not tame so I don’t handle him unless I have to, but he always seems to be alert and having fun.

These two new girls have actually been handled for a while now. I was told that if you cup your hand around one of them and put it near your chest she will start to fall asleep! It will be rally neat if I’m able to easily handle these two girls.. robos are soooo dorable!

Now assuming the Muffin next-door to you barks it must be a dog.. you mean a Chihuahua? Unless you guys spell it different? That is a hard one to spell though!

Anyway, Im so excited! I hope this lady gets back to me soon! *fingers crossed*

I hope everything works out ok SnuggleHam and you can get your robo's.

Yes It is spelt the same in the uk "Chihuahua".

I always liked the look of dwarf hamsters, but I always hear that they are hard to tame and run really fast, unlike syrians.

Once you get them and they are settled in, be sure to take some pictures of them both!

Oh Ill be taking lost of pictures once I get them! I’ll probably take picturew right after I place them in their new home since they will be active and exploring. Robo's are very fast creatures.. they certainly aren’t as cuddly like a syrian ham. Even if I were able to handle these little ones, I wouldn’t do so unless I was seated and I knew they couldn’t hurt themselves from a fall or something, to swift and unpredictable.

I hope it works out too. I suppose if it doesn’t though I already have all the stuff I need for a dwarf hamster. So if for some reason we never meet up, ill find some kind of dwarf ham to put in the new tank lol

That`s great news! My two robo males are lovely, but manic! They have a regular silent spinner and run together on it. I bought three of those mini ones but the robos both wanted on at the same time, so I was forced to buy the next size up!

You can buy metal hangers for glass tanks and place the plastic drinking bottle inside, so that you can adjust the spout height. Superpet make them, so if you do a search, you may come across them. I use these for my gerbil aquariums because water dishes are not practical!

I`ll bet your excited?

Thanks racinghamster, I did look into water bottles when I was at the pet store, but I’ve been using the same kind of water bowl for my current robo Pichu. It happened some time ago.. I believe when I had to separate my gerbils, I ended up using the robo’s water bottle and since then haven’t bothered getting another. Changing the water works out fine in a bowl for me.

Pichu, my current robo has a regular sized SS wheel, so if I find the new girls are trying to get on ay once Ill give Pichu the smaller one and the girls the big one hehe. I am excited! Still waiting to hear back from the woman about meeting tomorrow.

Ok so souf can't spell the tiny mexican dog! Well I did spell check it and that is what it came up with so what is a chiwawa I wonder?

Right I googled it
There is a pop band, a valley and river and some people do spell the dog that way too

Maybe you should call them Muffin and Chiwawa Snuggleham!
I bet Pitchu is looking forward to meeting some new young ladies
