any tip on taming a yr old robo

ok so skips is not handable due to being scared of humans so has any one got any tip me and my sister tryed to hold a treat out but he to scared

No robos are not motivated by food so treats as bribes wont work with them unlike our greedy syrian and dwarfie friends! The Roborovski's Dwarf Hamster this is a link to member nooboos website, she is an experienced hammy breeder, there are some tips on here that you may find useful, also Mod Tammys website too Oak Farm Rabbits and Rodents, some good stuff on there too.

Ihave heard mentioned (by mick I think

) that putting them in their ball and then tipping it on to your hand so that the open part in on your hand and the hammy is inside, they then have no choice but to sit on your hand! Also putting some tissue in your sock while wearing it, andf then putting it in their cage so that it smells of you and gets them used to your smell. But with robos just time and patience I think. If you are worried about dropping them or them pinging off somewehre try taming in the bath tub (empty obv!) so that they cant escape up the slippery sides.

They are naturally very shy creatures, and very fast to the two combined . . . not an easy pet! And taking into consideration what may have happened to him its no wonder he is frightened. You have to gain his trust and this will take time and patience. It took Fluffymuchkins nearly a year to tame her robo Peggy. You will get there!

Yep its never too late to start taming

I didn't really know how to tame hamsters until i'd had Peggy for a year and then i started to really put the effort in and it paid off!
Have you tried sitting in the bathtub with him?
Some robos need to get over the initial fear of being picked up and to learn you won't hurt them, so you can practise scooping him up then putting him down. Slowly increasing the time you hold him
