Exclamation Help needed

Hi I got just my first dwarf hamster he's a Campbell and as I've only owned syrians I'm a little concerned

He seems to clean himself and itch quite a bit is that normal?

He had a vet checkup yesterday and was in the clear but it seems odd ?

My dwarf was like that when i first got him. They wash and scratch more when they are a bit stressed while they are settling in and get used to new surroundings, smells and sounds etc.

What kind of substrate do you use? I use the Kaytee C&C which is nice and soft and my burrowing dwarves love it.

Okay awesome thank goodness I've only had him 4 days hopefully he doesn't stay stressed for long I use kaytee also but at the store it was wood so maybe he's also getting used to that but other than the cleaning a lot he seems happy thank you

They do groom a lot. Main thing is don’t over clean the cage or at all for the first two weeks or they can get stressed and start over-scenting everything.
