Is there hardly any difference in personality between male and female russians?

I know that male syrians tend to have a more docile temperament, just wondered if there was much difference with Russian dwarfs? Xx

I've only had one female but did find with her it was similar to Syrians, she was a lot more active & demanding than any of my boys had been!

Ah I may get a female... did you find as she was more active that she was awake a little more in the day?
I would like my children to be able to watch in her cage during the day sometimes hopefully xx

All my Russians have been active during the day to some extent but yes she was a bit more than the boys.

I also found girls more active and demanding generally (with the exception of one), but the difference between russians didn’t seem as much as with Syrians. In my experience anyway, not really thought about it before today!

Well just wanted more time out and got bored easier. Did also find them more cage territorial but then I also had a very territorial male! But hamster personalities and habits really do differ a lot so getting a female won’t ensure you’ll get an active one that’s awake more.
My experience with hamsters being in heat is that syrians smell much worse! I don’t think I’ve actually noticed a smell with dwarves.

I never really noticed any smell with mine, just very faint if I buried my nose in her fur but nothing really noticeable otherwise.
I also found my female to be territorial in her cage, absolutely fine out of the cage though, not a problem I had with the boys.
I do agree that it's down to personality as much as gender so you can't be totally sure a female will be more active.
