Default What type was my Poppy?

Hi everyone,

I'm new to these forums but enjoying them a lot. I'd like to find out what type of dwarf my little Poppy was. She passed away yesterday but she was a pretty little girl, white with a very pale cream/beige stripe down her back. she had pink eyes as well. i will attempt to post a pic of her when I can shrink it a bit somehow.

Thanks for any help,

Ceri

If Poppy was a P@H hammy she will have been a hybrid somewhere down her lines.
The pink eyes are only seen in Campbells though so she was mainly Campbells probably an argente mottled or something similar
There are some pics here you can look at

Oooh, she looked like the argente only paler and pink eyed. I'm not sure how to make my pics small enough to post them on here...
Thanks, Ceri

Argentes do have pink eyes. They tend to fade and get paler as they age too.
If you upload your pictures to a host like photobucket which is free and easy there is a resize too there. Resize to 600pixels wide and that is a good size.
Run your mouse over the pic and a drop down will appear. Copy the bottom link on the dropdown and paste it into your post and it will show

I tried to edit them so they would show on the forum but they are too large so it has to be links.

Hehe, thanks, she was a bitey madam but we loved her for it. She got really fat when I first got her...she refused all food but sunflower seeds lol. She snapped out of it after a week or two though!

Argentes are renowned for their fiesty temperaments. If anyone nips at a show it will be an argente. It's in their blood

I actually think she was a mandarin WW (ie hybrid) rather than argente. She's not orange enough to be argente, and doesn't have a campbells head, and although red eyed mandarins weren't often seen they did exist in pet shops etc. This may explain her personality a little more!

Argentes aren't so bad anymore, people have done a lot of work to calm them down and get them a lot tamer.

I've not heard of manderin before, I thought she might have been an argente platinum, but I'm not that informed on the caot types so it was only a guess. You're right about the head though, it was longer than most pictures I've seen of Campbells
