Re: Koala Bear
Koala Bear just got PTS for the mites causing him torment all the time, he had diabetes as well. He was treated at the exotic vet for the Demodex mites. The ivomec didn't work. I was advised that the kindest thing to do would be to PTS.

Re: Koala Bear
I have just posted about Cinnamon Bear without realising that you had lost both your precious bears at the same time. So very sorry CB. What a difficult day for you but your little ones are at peace now.
Play well at the bridge now Koala Bear. You and Cinnamon Bear can play there together.
*hug* for you CB

Re: Koala Bear
What a tough day for you, CB. You've done your very best for Koala Bear and given him a great life despite his health issues.
Run free, sweet ham

Re: Koala Bear
So sorry CB, it's always a very hard decision to have to make & to have to make this choice for two hams in one day is very sad indeed.
Hope you're ok.
Run free & play well at the bridge Koala Bear.

Re: Koala Bear
Thank you all for your kind words, Koala was tormented last night I made the decision to end his suffering. I worked with the vet to try to get rid of the mites but we were unsuccessful. I just looked at his baby picture and he was so little & innocent. Yet he endured much suffering, so now I hope he is living on pain free, with Cinnamon Bear.

Re: Koala Bear
Oh CB, I really feel for you, you did the right thing. We sometimes have to make difficult decisions when it comes to our beloved hams but I know this wasn't an easy thing but little Koala is at peace.
Big hugs to you CB xxx

Re: Koala Bear
Gutted for you CB, what a shame this had to happen. It`s very difficult for members to see what you are seeing and only you can truly know what the best course of action was for Koala Bear. Really sorry you lost the wee guy.x

Re: Koala Bear
I know racing hamster, I did it out of love. Cause was my favorite hamster, one of the mites bit me while I was cleaning his cage without gloves & it stung / hurt & lthe pain lingered on for while. Can't imagine more than one biting him all the time. I loved him too much to see that happen to him.
I paid $150 at vet & worked hard to fight them for almost a month & it wasn't working. Talk to 2 other vets who said he's on the right course of treatment but if I kept giving the ivomec to him, that could cause other problems.

Re: Koala Bear
Oh CB, we know you did it out of love, koala put up a fight but in the end he couldn't fight it any longer and you being his mom made the right choice to take the pain away.
