Re: Koala Bear
It would be unusual to have a bad reaction to that sand, are you sure they're itching & not just having a really good groom now they have sand to clean their fur thoroughly?
The scent gland certainly shouldn't be raw but it shouldn't really be yellow either, a clean healthy one shouldn't be that noticeable really, you can see it's there but it doesn't stand out that much, if that makes sense!

Re: Koala Bear
About the scent gland, he was stretching up against the side of his cage & I didn't see any redness today, will have to keep taking him out into the bin & watch his belly when he rolls.
About the sand, they do appear itchy more than normal, Latte & Koala, have not seen Cinnamon itch & haven't tried the sand with Madison or Chloe yet?

I'm not sure if they are trying to get the sand off or not, good point
However, Latte didn't have sand last night & she's itchy this morning so that seems like a long time ?

Re: Koala Bear
When you say itchy do you mean scratching almost non stop? If so then it might be an idea to keep the sand out for a while & may try again in a few days or so but if they're just grooming a bit more than normal they're probably fine.

So far I have 3 sand baths & 2 cartons of sand
Today 1 more sand bath is coming & 2 more cartons of sand, which I might refuse? Haven't decided still...
I put Koalas sand bath in Chloe's cage & she seems to really like it? So it might be worth receiving the shipment today?
Edit: I accepted the package so I have 4 sand baths and 4 cartons of sand Whoever is itchy will just get sand 1 night per week
I also ordered 1 more sand bath, so all hammies will have their own sand bath except Izzy due to her current cage
