Wink Squeaking

Another question I have is I have noticed that my Russian hamster make a squeaking sound does anyone know why this is ?

It depends... Hamsters squeak for lots of different reasons and only observing and noticing what type of squeak it is will tell you roughly what the squeak means

I've one who is squeaking a lot at the minute - usually if you approach him because he's still scared. Screeched the house down last night because he was fighting with his brother and they had to be separated. If it's a loud squeaking there's maybe something bothering them or they've not settled in yet?

If they are back together, one ham may be bullying another, and they may have to live separate. Usually loud means problem. A little chirp, or tweet now and then could be contentment or wanting to play.....

Either one may just be scared and settling still as well, so they may screech if you come near. They should settle a bit though. I'd watch them closely .....but don't let them see you watching

You didn't say when your ham squeaks but if it's awake it is probably afraid, if it's asleep it's probably dreaming, some do that a lot!

It must have been whilst they were settling in as they don't seem to be squeaking any more ...But thanks for the advice and i will keep you posted if i notice it again
