Default I adopted today!

After weeks of emailing a rescuer, we finally were able to go drive and pick out a hamster!

So....I had my heart set on a Syrian. From what I've read, they are the easiest to tame, the biggest, and the slowest. I met a few Syrians and I didn't really "click" with any. Except for this one black Syrian girl, who was such a sweetheart.

Then we met a pair of Campbells. They're two brothers, a month apart but were raised together and get along fine. I picked them up and they were the sweetest things. I had a much easier time handling them than I did with any if the Syrians, except for that one little black Syrian.

I ended up deciding to take them. Something about them just made me choose them over the Syrian girl.

The older brother is all white with red eyes and his name is Ivory, and the younger brother is black with white around his nose, and his name is Ebony. I don't know if I'll keep their names or change it...any name ideas? I would like the names to go together somehow; either opposites like Ebony and Ivory or something like Cookies n Cream.

I'll post pictures later when they come out to play!

Like they say, hammies pick us, often...not the other way around.

Have a second cage on hand in the event the Campbells fall out and start fighting...

I'm jealous! LOL. To have two hammies interacting would be so much fun to watch, and chances are they'll get along fine. Just best to be ready if they don't all of a sudden. Lots of info on the site about that....having two bowls, two wheels , two of everything to stave off territoriality instincts, and it's best they don't have levels in the tank. Go for floorspace with dwarf pairs....scatter feed.....lots of info throughout HC on it.

Congrats on the new fuzzbutts!

Thanks!

I've decided to keep their names Ebony and Ivory. The names stuck.

This is little Ebony. I don't have pictures of Ivory yet because Ivory's still settling in and is a bit shy. He's very sweet and tame, but he didn't want to come out and say hi for too long.

Here's little Ivory.

And some more pictures because I'm in love with these boys and they're beautiful!

Ebony's hard to take pictures of because he just looks like a little blob. And Ivory's a bit difficult when he's in the cage because he blends in with the bedding. :P

LOL Esmy, that cracked me up!

Ivory is lovely. Solid black hammies are a pain to photograph. My Blaze, Pip, Chip and Dale were black and all looked the same and it was so hard to see their faces in the photos. I use Boxo and Kaytee Clena & Cozy, so a whaite ham would show up nicely. It looks like they are settling in very nicely for you.
