Default Meet Tuna!

Meet Tuna! I've been told she is a Campbells Dwarf (I can't be positive because I don't know that much about hamster breeds), and I adopted her yesterday from a nice lady who had a couple litters.
She's 5 weeks old and I've been told she's been held every day. I believe it, because she is incredibly sweet and tame. She is also so pretty...a nice light brown and white, with brown spots on her behind. ^.^
I built this cage last week in preparation for her...there is a deep burrow area on the left and she already seems to LOVE the hay that I put in there for her. (: Ignore my cat, Max...he loves to watch her run around!

EDIT: I did have a couple questions. I bought her a flying saucer wheel...the smallest one. She is a bit bigger than I was expecting, and now I'm worried that the saucer will be too small. Is there a good way to tell?
Also, is it normal for hammies to sleep on top of their substrate? I've never had one do that, but she seems to like sleeping on top OR burrowed under.

Oh she's lovely, as is Max. I've a hybrid Russian hamster about the same size who is using the small flying saucer at the minute as she broke her usual wheel. Usually she uses a Silent Spinner and it does seem easier to get the hang of, perhaps get her a Silent Spinner and see which she ends up using more?

The 6.5" silent spinner works well for dwarfs but if you feel it needs upgrading theres the 8" trixie wheel or the 12" flying saucer/silent spinner or trixie.

She is lovely looking forward to hearing lots more about her. Your cat is very pretty too

flogging_molly: I think she has the 5 inch one as the flying saucers come in three sizes - small: 5inch, medium: 6.5inch and large: massive lol. I do agree that the small one is too small for a dwarf, don't worry as tuna is only young, its ok but once he gets to about 3 months he will probably need upgrading to the medium one which is a good size for dwarfs. But some people still think that even that is TOO small, and like flogging_molly said the 8" trixie wheel is a great wheel. Hope I Helped x

Aww, tuna is adorable Unique name too! I love the cage setup, the digging box is a great idea. If you have the 5 inch flying saucer, I'd upgrade to the 6.5 inch as this is the smallest that you'll want to use really My hybrid uses a 6.5 inch saucer and is fine with it. Also, she is just making an open nest when sleeping out in the open, this is what many hams prefer to do (both of mine do too). Just make sure that, where she sleeps, she has a deep layer of bedding and a soft nesting material like unscented toilet paper so she can burrow under and be in the warmth.
