well I must say I have had more diabetes scares with normals rather than other colours, but other colours seem more prone to what I call SDCS (sudden campbell death syndrome) where a totally healthy hamster dies..suddenly often happens between 8 months and a year and a half...I had quite a few go that way, which really put me off campbells, of those I bred I only know of a couple that did it, thankfully, but quite a few others I brought would just die randomly, and after speaking to others I found that this seemed to be quite common campbell behavior.
I have also had two black eyed whites who had strokes...but that was most likely bad luck...once I took a group of brothers off a breeder, 4 went in the SCDS window the other two lived long healthy lives...one of those was a normal one argente...the black,the dove, etc were the ones to die...they were my first group of campbells and it very nearly put me off keeping them, as I blamed myself, but after I had talked to other campbell keepers and breeders I was told I had done nothing wrong and it just..happens!
dwarfs are rather worrying critters you worry about breeding campbells as you never know when either diabetes will poke up it's head or these sudden deaths, and you worry with WW with the hybrid issue.
I have had a black eyed white who was diabetic but then the undercolour was normal.
