Default Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome...

...Gimlet!!

First of all let me say I think I'm going mad - I was certain I posted this topic last night, but now it's not there. Clearly premature dementia setting in.

Anyway, this is my new Campbell's dwarf, rescued two days ago from a home where the kids (both turned out to be under 5) had "lost interest" and "moved on to guinea pigs". Grr.

Gimlet is a gorgeous little guy - his appearance is quite scary initially until you get used to the eyes I think but I am totally smitten His previous owners told me he "hadn't been handled much" and he was "territorial", but I have had no problems (until I used the lemon hand sanitizer heh heh).

Can anyone help me out with his colour – is he a red-eyed lilac? He is a steely grey all over with pale paws, ears and a white flash on his chest. His eyes are ruby, not bright red as in the pictures. They remind me of a very drunk/hung over person

I thought Dove but dove's tend to be darker, though he could well be, or possibly Red Eyed Lilac.

What a cutie!

Thanks everyone - Gimlet is getting a big head

Red-eyed lilac is what I thought, and a few people have said that, though some also think he's too dark for that. Ah well, maybe he's just unique

Yes, could be either. I would have said a dove thats maybe starting to silver (which they can do as they are made from black) or that maybe has some platinum in there. But could well be RE-Lilac. Its been a long time since I had either colour so I would never be sure!

Very pretty though. I miss having lots of nice colours like that.

I can never understand why people get a pet then let them go, only to replace them with another Why not keep the hamster and have guinea pigs? Strange isn't it..... and definately your gain as Gimlet is divine! Congratulations on your new addition
