Re: Food Bars
It contains corn and pea, and although isn't as bad as a honey bound treat, I'd really recommend feeding natural goods, such as plain millet spray, or dari cob. I also got my hams some wheat husks, which they enjoyed taking apart.
I'm only so cautious because one of my hamsters is diabetic though, >.<

Re: Food Bars
We got ours a Burgess Supastar with the ingredients
Ingredients
Millet, wheat, maize, red dari, sunflowers, barley, meal meal, peas, apple, apricot, banana, yellow biscuit, green biscuit (contains EC permitted colourants)
But then realised it probably wasn't great and took it out after a day
If anyone knows of any bars I'd love to give some to our two too !

Re: Food Bars
I don`t know of any `seed treats` which don`t seem to have maize, peas, dried fruit or some type of syrup binding it together. I bought a wafer seed bar for my syrian and he never touched it. I much prefer to hand feed natural treats like:
Hemp seed
Loose millet
A little broken bit of peanut
A small sunflower seed
A half pumpkin seed
A mealworm
These are all safe for dwarf hamsters and they will happily take them from you. No need to spend extra cash on shop treats. A little bit of boiled egg also goes down well, just a little 5mm piece. Same goes for fresh veg in very small amounts. Broccoli, cucumber, kale, water cress...
Twice a week is fine. Not all at once though, just feed one of the above each time.

Re: Food Bars
Thanks everyone
I will just stick to the millet bar then.
I just feel bad for Wispa as Buttons loves hers!
The millet bar has editable glue to stick it together =)

Re: Food Bars
Edible glue.... Goes to prove my point. Nothing these companies make can be trusted.

Re: Food Bars
Well I have always fed them to my hamsters and none of them have ever gotten poorly from them. Wispa doesn't chew on anything but loves her millet bar.

Re: Food Bars
I would want to know what the wording actually meant before I would feed anything to mine. Chances are it`s probably some form of animal derivitive but it could also be produced in a foreign country who don`t have decent welfare standards. Many of these treats bars have things added to them that never sound quite right. Which is why I feed natural seeds and small pieces of greens where I know the origins of!
