Default Is it harder to get cuddles from my russians?

My two dwarfies have been friendly little things since I got them, especially Zorro who has now got to the point (already) where I put my hand in the cage, he jumps on it and runs up my arm!

But when I handle them then tend to run around a bit and don't stay still much, I know they're not as "dosile" (if ya like) nor cuddly as a Syrian but I do love my Zozzy bear and I'd love to have him a bit closer

Any advice or tips that might work for handling him? x

Brief heads up - Yours are hybrids. Near guaranteed now I know the exact store you bought them from lol (I learnt the signs and haven't seen a non-hybrid litter there yet, and if the staff claimed they were Campbells then congratulations, when I asked about species they were clueless lol)

And er... none of the dwarf species are too cuddly (winter whites are apparently one of the most cuddly though), but we've found that hamsters will cuddle more when they get a bit older and even more used to you, so it might be that waiting will make them more likely to cuddle anyway.

They just said they were Campbell dwarfs because that's what was on the sign aha - but thanks!

I'm hoping to get a large pen so that we can sort of sit in it eventually and can try and let them sit on us and cuddle up to us in good time, so it's good to know this may come with age, thanks

Mine will sit in your hands if you have some food there, and they stay still for a bit, but they do mostly run around.
People refer to them as 'cuddly' compared to a roborovski, because you don't even get those cuddles with a robo.

Play pens are good, as is the food bribing thing.
I think with pairs you have to get them out together as well, in case one comes back smelling differently and they fight.

*needs to go see if the sign has indeed been updated*
It used to say "Russian" and nothing more, so I may visit P@H tomorrow when in town to eat and get my prescription from boots. Plus I still want to try and spot the robo in the adoption bit lol

And good luck with the large pen, we have a living room full of hamster playpens (and a big box since Scamp prefers it).
One idea for taming would be the bathtub - Lots of people suggest putting towels down and sitting in there with them if you can. Getting them out together is best if you can though, I've heard about that one a few times.
