Re: Advice?
Thanks KatiePillow, I am all for upgrading the cage, apart from I don't know of any others that have the aquarium case and only a few bars (which I prefer) I'm all for any suggestions, but just not one with bars (or only a few bars) - I had a bad experience with bars with my previous hamster, as well as with my friend's one, both ending in tears
I do have space for a very large cage, but I'd like to keep it small as my mum isn't too keen on the idea, and I don't want to put her off further.
Thanks again guys!

Re: Advice?
I've got two Mini Dunas in use at the moment. One for a Chinese and one for a pure Winter White.
My Chinese adores his Duna. It means he has somewhere to hide underneath so he doesn't have to deal with me. He has a massive cork tunnel, a large sandbath, a nest and a saucer in his Duna which is quite good.
My pure Winter White, Cecil, is a very large Winter White and is still growing and soon he'll be moving into a ZZ1 just because he may need a bigger space just to dig in but right now he seems content in his Duna.

That's fine, I was just warning you, My boy dwarf was fine in a mini duna until about a month ago, when he decided that he was so bored he wanted his bottom to be bald >.<
So he's been upgraded, it can happen at any time.
And the hamster will be fine in a mini duna, plus it's easier to tame them in one I've found, it's just it needs to be borne in mind that they COULD need an upgrade.
I hope your hamster settles in well ^.^

Re: Advice?
Thanks again guys - I must admit from looking at the cage, it does seem perfectly fine, I am only looking for one small russian dwarf - which will be spoiled anyway! If I did notice that the hamster, I would upgrade of course, but the mini duna seems easy to clean, adequate and practical, so I think it will be ok.

Re: Advice?
I was just recommending what was best not what was simply ok.
I understand the forums minimum is below that of the RSPCA, I was only providing a different perspective.

Re: Advice?
Thank you christmas_hamster, I honestly didn't know that there were minimum requirements, so thanks for informing me!
Of course if the little hammie seems to cramped, I'll be sure to upgrade the cage - at the end of the day it's the hamster's happiness that matters

Very true. I've got 6 various tubes/hidey holes in mine for Shy plus a sandbath, food bowl, igloo and six inch wheel. It's actually quite deceptive, you end up being able to fit in far more than you think.

Re: Advice?
Hey guys, I know many people hate the Habitrail OVO's here, but would the Habitrail OVO loft be suitable for a dwarf hamster (russian) - especially the wheel?

Re: Advice?
I had older editions of the Habitrail which my syrian loved very much but I had so much it used to take me 4.3 hours to clean it. I have tried three editions of the Habitrail, and never got on with any of them. I used to like the waterbottles and wheels though in the older ones
