Re: My new pair of dwarfs =]
Ahh I cant wait to move out, only 3 more long years at uni ¬¬ At the moment I'll have to transport them to and fro on the train so I cant really have more than 3 in a travel case lol
I think I'm going to put a couple of layers of PVA on the inside of the wheel, seems easy enough....but I hope I haven't just jinxed it xD

Re: My new pair of dwarfs =]
yeah I think you're right! They could be twins xD Tell Carrot he's(?) very cute ^^
I'm taking the taming slowly, using cardboard tubes, and they don't bite once they're on my hand. It would be a lot easier if I could pick them out of the cage though as they don't always like actually going into the tube... *sigh*

Uni will go in the end
And at least Nellie and Vera are pets during it. We got Scamp during the last term last year, the robos after moving to our flat and the russians just after my graduation.
Good plan with the pva. I'm sure it'll be fine

I still can't take her out of the cage without getting bit. I just put her ball in and let her crawl in. Once she's out she generally doesn't bite (but has been known to taste fingers) but it took a while to get to that point. I'm not sure why dwarfs seem to be so much more aggressive than syrains.

Hmmm I'm not sure about that, my Syrian was pretty vicious when I had her haha, she was known to hang off my finger by her teeth >_<
Might just be cage rage with your Carrot, doesn't like you being in *her* space etc....

Re: My new pair of dwarfs =]
When i read your post i just had to reply as i have recently got myself 2 Dwarf Campbells Russian hamsters both female. I bought them both from p@h and i noticed from the pics that i have the same cage and toys as you the only difference being i bought a different house.
Did you have any problems with the bottle that came with the cage? i found that my hamsters couldn't get water out easily and so i had to go and buy a differnet one.
Also is the wheel really noisy? Mine is so i've orded myself a silent spinner hopefully it wont take long in coming.
Hope the pics look okay. i could only get a photo of one of them at the min, i will upload some more photos soon

Pets At Home really are misleading.
I'm afraid that the Mini Duna is too small for two hamsters, plus having a level gives them something to fight over. You also can't really fit two decent sized wheels in the Duna. I'd order something like an Imac Bingo online then take the Mini Duna back and ask for a refund.
The poster of this thread, soon upgraded to a bigger cage.
