Default Excess sealant on wood

I have a dig box that comes flat pack so you have to seal it. The problem is there is excess sealant on the bottom of it now and I do not know how to get it off. I am going to put it on stilts so I imagine a hamster will be tempted to chew this off from underneath. Has anybody found a way to remove this excess sealant? It is an aquarium sealant.

Can you scrape it off with a sharp knife like a penknife?

Do you have a photo? I can't imagine a dig box that needs sealant.

I saw some videos from fish keepers using razer blades to carefully scrape aquarium sealant off. Not sure if the same applies to wood, and you'd have to be exceptionally careful as to not hurt yourself.

Thank you very much for your help Serendipity and heidii. Here is a link to the box so you will see why it needs sealing:
Standard Hamster Sandbox - Formaldehyde Free, Non Toxic, Wooden, Slot Together & | Happy Henry’s Homes

All the things they make are flat and need slotting together. I will try both of your suggestions.

Did you buy this new or used?

I see nothing in the image or the description on the sellers side that suggests they require the use of a sealant. That's why I wonder if it was used or returned.

Send it back for a "clean" new one. If a bit of sand leaks out..... so what. Yon can also cover the bottom with some brown craft paper (paper bag) if that becomes necessary.

If you cannot do that, I'd use a sander to remove what I could not cut off with a razor.

I bought this new. All the sand boxes come with instructions that they can be sealed with aquarium sealant. I had to use that or any sand would come through it. Thank you for the tips. I tried a razor but I think it was too blunt. Luckily a wallpaper scrapper worked.

It needs plastikoting anyway to protect it from pee soaking into the wood. Hamsters often use their sandbath as a toilet. I would have thought that a couple of coats of plastikote would have acted as a sealant.
