Default IKEA Platsa DIY cage

Hello! I found some threads about an Ikea Platsa DIY cage, but none discussed this issue. Namely, I purchased the Ikea Platsa today (120x55x60 cm or ~47.2"x21.6"x23.6") and only now realized I will have to assemble it differently. I already have the glass ordered (6 mm thick and 120x55/47.2"x21.6" long). However, as shown in the picture, there are quite a few holes and a long line on the bottom. I am worried my hammie might chew on those. How can I cover them? I was thinking of using a wood filler and sandpaper, but I'm not sure whether it's safe for my hammie? Btw, sorry if I messed up the conversion to inches
