Question Plastic/pine safe for hamsters?

Hi

For my gcse DT coursework I'm going to be making a "multifunctional" hamster toy kinda similar to those rosewood climb n play things.
My question is, are there any plastics that are safe for hamsters that can be heated and bent into shape? Or is pine wood/mdf safe? Ik pine isn't a safe hamster bedding, so idk if it's safe for use in hamster toys. A plastic would be preferable as it's pretty strong even when thin, but pine or mdf would work too (pine wood and mdf are the only woods available at my school). Obviously if neither of these are safe I will change my idea as I haven't started it yet :)
