Bin Cage: Wire grate inside or Out
I've put together a bin cage for our Syrian Hammy that will be a nighttime playpen.
The sides have large ventilation windows that are covered by the wire grate from a small rodent cage.
I mounted the wire grate on the outside of the bin, but now that I look at it, I am wondering if the grate should be on the inside of the cage.
Any thoughts?

I would leave it on the outside- on the inside it gives a good chance that the hamster could chew at it. If you wanted to make it look better, you can put duct tape on the edges do it looks more complete.

I found a YouTube video of a hamster that chewed his way out of a bin cage when the wire mesh was on the outside.
Anyone else have this happen?

Re: Bin Cage: Wire grate inside or Out
I always put the mesh on the inside of the bin cage to prevent access to the cut plastic edges. They can be sharp and also can be chewed to make an escape route!
