Do you have a dwarf or Syrian? Zooplus currently have the 8 inch on sale for 10 pounds! Instead of 26. I don't think they sell the 12 inch any more but there is another wooden wheel that has bark. Looks grand, but that may be the problem. Hamsters like to strip off bark.

I didn't plastikote my Karlie wheel either! Charlie is also polite lol! Except when something is new and then he christens it. I used to scrub it under the tap when it needed cleaning. But some people did that and the wheel started to come apart. Mine was fine. They are very nice wheels but I prefer the 12" Silent Runner from exotic nutrition, which is cheaper in the US than the Uk! Ours are imported and cost a lot more.

Yes Percy had a few dribbles at first but then stopped too lol. I am not a fan of anything plastic and I heard there are still a few glitches with the wheel, plus the price It is a great wheel.

I haven't found any glitches with it I love it. I loved the Karlie wheel too, but my replacement ones came damaged and with splinters and I gave up on them.

It's a big confusing world out there with all the wheels from what I've experienced, but at the end of the day being the right size and being solid are what matters and if a wooden wheel that is suitable works for you then that's great! They do look amazing, but sadly for me at least as I'm in the US they are very expensive and also they don't come in as large of a size as some of the plastic wheels that cost way less so personally I wouldn't be getting one.Of course,I'm getting a Syrian in a few months but if it was a dwarf I was getting I would get a wooden wheel too

There isn't that much choice in Syrian wheels really. Wodent wheels, the bigger Wobust wheels, the Trixie wheel (wodent look alike - not sure if that's on sale in the US) and Karlie Wood Wheels in Europe, but they've had their issues in recent times and often need sanding before use! So now there is the 12" Silent Runner I am so happy! And it has a safe sturdy stand or fixes to the bars of a cage. It's not a bad price in the US either, it's just in the Uk it works out expensive.

We do have Comfort Wheels here which go up to 12",same with Silent Spinners. Those you do have to be careful with just because of the whole Silent Spinners possibly being faulty depending on the individual wheel. We don't have much natural wheel selection at all,and for larger Syrians up to 6" in length there are just so few options to where you're almost always limited to the wheels that have some form of a con like being aesthetically unpleasant or being plastic etc.

The Silent Runner seems very nice though, and I would love if it would come in different colors as well because their current selection is just not going to work for me at least.

I know we have the Carolina Storm Express in the US but that's around 10" so it isn't exactly big enough for every single Syrian, same with the Wodent and Wobust which I believe don't go above 11".

If I can find a wheel that isn't too hard to clean,is available in a 12" size, and is aesthetically pleasing I will finally be happy. For now though I'm pretty much stuck with getting a Comfort Wheel which isn't fun

I think Virtual Keith had a 12" Raptor wheel with smooth track but it's probably expensive. I forgot about the California Storm wheels - they look great but as you say only for smaller hams really. I don't mind the way the Silent Runner looks because it spins so well! They do do a deeper 12" version in green that's about the same depth as the Wobust wheel.

There was someone on here recently who made their own wood wheel!
