I've posted this before a few years ago but thought I'd show this again

I used a puzzle playground creation as a template. I just used water, toilet paper and kitchen roll. It did take a few days to dry but it was quite sturdy, and once chewed to pieces was used as bedding

Awesome idea! So you just used that as the shape and used the wet toilet paper idea and then the hamster chewed the toilet paper off, used it as nesting material and the toys are still intact. Perfect Idea!

Well I took the toilet paper off the toys once it was dry, so it left like a paper mache version of the puzzle playground.

OK. But still, that is an awesome idea. Where did you get that? The playground thing I mean.

It's called Puzzle Playground, I think it was given to me as I don't remember buying it, so not sure where you would get it from, or if it is available in the US.

But there's a toilet roll hammock idea that might work well on this Erin's Hamsters video. I've also seen a swing/hammock made out of half an egg box tied up with sisal string (normal string isn't good if it's chewed either!). A ceramic cup can be a nice little hideout. Or even just a small cardboard box with one side cut out makes a kind of ledge and hideout. Putting a kitchen roll inner tube partly under the substrate with one end sticking out can encourage them to dig tunnels if the substrate is a few inches deep and that keeps them happy as it's a normal hammy behaviour. If you use a kitchen roll inner tube though, slit it down one side so it can expand if the hamster goes through, in case it's not quite big enough.

This is the Erin's Hamsters toys from toilet roll tubes - there are all kinds of ideas there! Sisal string is safest though. It's not expensive but I find it difficult to find. Not sure how easy it is to find in the US.

Safety first but that helps get creative even more if materials are limited!

Scarlet doesn't really chew on anything that hangs. Was wondering if I could at least try the cloth and if she does chew it, then remove it as soon as possible? And was also wondering if I could hangs it with a think waxed thread?
