Coconut for hamster question
So I've got a coconut in the house and was wondering if I can use the shell as something for the hammy? I've taken all the inside out but do I need to do anything to the outside? Is it even safe for him to have?
Thank you

Re: Coconut for hamster question
Yes it's safe and no you don't need to do anything to it
He/she will enjoy stripping off all the coconut hair from the outside of the shell

Re: Coconut for hamster question
I've heard that you should clean it before giving it to a hamster, either by giving it a soak in water and vinegar or baking it at a low temperature.

No problem! Just don't use soap, it'll soak into the shell, I think.

Re: Coconut for hamster question
You can use a coconut for anything. I made a home out of a whole one. If you cut them in half, they can be a home, food bowl, even a sand bath. If you want to make sure there are no bugs or mites in it, just put the shell in a microwave for about 30 seconds but put a class of water in as well because nothing dry should be put in on its own.
