*freaking out in a major way* That is truly amazing Kiki. And it's a beautiful piece of furniture. The lights just put it over the top for me.

Thanks so much DrKMcK! I've been going back and forth regarding cages & shelving for Darwin for quite a long time now and I knew I wouldn't be happy unless it contained all the things I wanted in a cage. I couldn't find everything I wanted in any of the cages that are sold in the US. So, with the help of a member of another forum, my ideas, and a bit of work....Voila!!! I am very happy with it and even my hubby (who thinks I'm a crazy hamster lady..lol) likes it. He really enjoys the red lights at night allowing us to see Darwin doing his hammy things

This is amazing! Love how you used the LED red strip lighting - I think I'm going to have to steal that idea.

That is a wonderful cage you've made. All my tanks and cages sit on Ikea Lack coffee tables but I'd never thought of turning one into a cage.

Thanks Wexland! I can't take all of the credit. I did have a friend help drawing it up on Google Sketch and she offered a lot of suggestions/advice I couldn't have done it without her! Darwin is loving this cage!

I really liked this cage even more when I added the LED lights! The IKEA one's are SO easy to install, they look great, and they are "cool" lighting, so they don't cause his cage to heat up while they are on. By all means...steal away! Where do you think I got the idea lol

I really liked an IKEA Lack Coffee Table cage that I saw a fellow hammy lover build. She built it like a hutch though & I wanted it more like a terrarium. With a few adjustments...voila!
