Expedit cage set up made from "0" !! We did it !
I've been wanting to make one for so long... but never seem to believe we could complete it ! But looks like we're on our way there ! I'll admit right away : I had my inspiration from you people on HC that already made one ! So I won't take other credit than to have shopped for what we needed to make it ! (Oh ! I WILL also take credit for using a drill for the first time... and feeling it this morning !!!)
What we did was to decide how big it would be and to get sheets of melamine big enough to build it. Our set up in shy of 1 meter long and will have 4 sections/cages in it plus a little section to store hammy stuff, near the ground.
We also used, for ventilation, masonite that already has a lot of holes in it. That way, there is a lot of ventilation in the cages !
I, myself, drilled bigger holes for the LED light plug to fit in (ref : The little credit I take from the project and how my shoulders and arms are reminding this this morning...) and I installed them on the top surfaces of each sections. This idea was taken from a very intelligent HC member who did just that in the one he/she made. Hats up, my dear !
Next step is to install the Plexiglass doors in the front so the Minis cannot escape ! The should be over by tomorrow... if we are in shape and have the windows ready tonight !!
(I'll post pictures)

Can't wait to see it! Is there a more detailed explanation of how you installed the light strips? I want to try it but I feel I don't know enough about LEDs to do it successfully

First, we (read my fiance!!) made the frame. He used screws and not nails as it makes it more stable an solid.
Then, with the same screws, he fixed the masonite to the back.
Then, I made holes a little bigger to fit the plugs of the LED light inside the sections. You can see the LED band...

Sincerely, it's so simple you'd start doing it right away if you knew ! The ones I got had a sticky side to them and I just had to put them where I wanted ! They have those little plastic supports that you screw on top of them to make sure they don't fall and that's it ! Don't get impressed what "the techno side" of it ! It's very simple and you are, FOR SURE, able to do it !
You take the 2 holes next to each side of the LED band and make them bigger so the plug coming in and out the one going out can fit through. Then you connect your LED in and out and you move to the next level.

Then, when all the holes are made and the wires connected... You can see a wire not fully in the hole on the right side of the 2nd section from the top...

Re: Expedit cage set up made from "0" !! We did it !
We finished it !!!!!! =D All sections are filled up and all Minis are happily transfered into it !
On top, we have David who was injured by his brother for being too snuggly... =( At least now, he's secure !
In the Colorful World, we have Mickie who is just as happy as his set-up looks like !
Here, we have Goliath, David's brother in a soon-to-be more natural look set-up.
Now we have Zoom and Vroom, the brothers. They only get along when/if their cage is set-up equaly and symetrical....
And then the entire thing...

Thank you very much ! Mickie, 2nd section from top, is going crazy !!! He's hilarious ! He comes at the window and just stares at us and runs everywhere ! It's very cool to have all of them with us, in our living room !
