Re: Guide to making Wodent Wheels run smoother and quieter.
I would like to get one of these wheels for my Milo. He is a winter white. Should I purchase a "Jr." Wheel (8 inches, 20 cm) or a "Sr." wheel (11 inches, 27.9 cm)?

Re: Guide to making Wodent Wheels run smoother and quieter.
I believe dwarf hamsters would do fine in an 8". Syrians need a minimum of 11". If you plan on getting a Syrian sometime, the 11" would work. I think a dwarf would be fine in an 11".
I see you are in the US. Where will you buy it? I got mine at Sugar glider food, Sugar glider cage and Hedgehog food I think they had the best price at the time, although they only come in green and black.

Re: Guide to making Wodent Wheels run smoother and quieter.
Thank you virtualkeith! I found them listed at martin's cages for around 10-13$ but they only sell them in white.
I have been poking around the Internet and seen sites stating 8" are only intended for mice and robos and can cause back problems for dwarfs, so I think I will try an 11" like you suggest.

Glad I could help. Let us know how you do!
Oh, and By the Way, I took the suggestion of this thread and wrapped plumbers tape around the axel, then I put olive oil on the inside of the washers that touch the wheel. It made a big difference!

I use the Carolina Storm Wheel. It's excellent right out of the box. It's silent, turns easily and has a sturdy base.
